This week for the NBA there are many players that have to be watched. One of those being DeMarcus Cousins for the Kings. Cousins has has career-highs in back-to-back games, including a 56-point, 12-rebound, two-block explosion against the Hornets last night. Over his last four games, Cousins is averaging 41.0 points on 26.5 attempts, 14.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. The nest player to watch is Chandler Parsons. Over the last 3 games Parsons is averaging 29 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. The third player is Devin Booker. Booker has been averaging 23.7 points and 2.7 assists per game. Since Brandon Knight is injured this will make his game even better, or it should. The next player is Willie Cauley-Stein. The dominance of DeMarcus Cousins has made it easy to miss how well Cauley-Stein has played over his last four games: 9.8 points, 10.5 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.0 blocks per game. Archie Goodwin has been playing pretty well also this week. He is averaging 22 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks. He should play well again in the next game also on the fact that Brandon Knight is injured.

The NBA All Star Weekend was last weekend and it was pretty interesting to say the least. The dunk contest was my favorite event of the weekend. There were different competitors in this but the two who made it interesting was Zach LaVine and Aaron Gordon. The contest was pretty exciting in the first rounds but the final round was where it was all at. Both players were getting extremely high scores and pulling dunks off that has never been seen before. To begin the final round Gordon pulled off a dunk with the Orlando Magic's mascot. This dunk earned a perfect score of a 50. LaVine responded with a windmill dunk from the free throw line, also earning a 50. They kept going back and forth getting 50's. This was the first dunk contest there have been 4 50's in the final round. As the two players battled it out doing dunks that were never seen before, LaVine stunned the whole crowd with his last dunk. He did a between the legs dunk from just inside the free throw line. This was easily the hardest dunk we saw all night and that got him his last score of a 50, winning the contest. Zach LaVine has won this contest 2 years in a row now. Aaron Gordon will probably come back next year with a chip on his shoulder to get that trophy.

Even though the Cleavland Cavaliers are leading their conference with a 38-14 record they decided they needed more help to be a competitor for the championship. A lot of teams including the Cavaliers are interested in Ben McLemore for the Sacremento Kings. The Cavaliers don't really have that many dead eye shooters from behind the 3 point line and McLemore can help with that. The trade deadline is coming up fast so if they want him they better work hard to get him or the deadline will cut them off. The Cavaliers are also looking for Trevor Ariza, Kyle Korver, and Jared Dudley, but getting one of those is very unlikely. The Cavs are making a good offer on McLemore but the question is when are they going to try to get him before the deadline? The Cavaliers are determined to win a championship but to do this they need to improve their backcourt and team overall. Ben McLemore would be a good fit for this organization and he would help them get closer to that championship they want. The Cavs are also pushing out the sedond highest payroll in league history which just goes to show how committed they are to win. If the Cavs pick McLemore up they should be in a good spot to compete for that championship.

On Saturday February 5, 2016 the Cleveland Cavaliers will play the Boston Celtics. The Cavs are at the top of their conference with a record of 35-13. Over their last 3 home games the Cavs are averaging 115.3 points on .536 shooting from the field and 29.3 assists. The Cavs are also averaging 105.3 points per game which is the highest in the Eastern conference. In the Cavs' first meeting against the Celtics this year Kevin Love had 20 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks in his 34 minutes he played. Love has been playing very well lately so the Celtics will have to watch him and make sure he doesn't get hot or they'll be in trouble. The Boston Celtics have a record of 29-22 so far this season. They have been playing very well lately as they have won 7 of their last 8 games. Isaiah Thomas has been playing well for the Celtics and he leads the team with points per game and assists per game. This will be a pretty good match up if the Celtics come ready to play considering the Cavs have a 5 game win streak going on against the Celtics. My guess is that the Cavs will win this game pretty easily and then afterwards the next day the Cavs go on to play the New Orleans Pelican, which should be a great game. This Friday night match up should be a good one.
